Position: Admissions Assistant

Department: Student Success & Engagement

Type of Position: Part-time Temporary

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday-Friday 12:00-5:00, 25 hours per week

Opportunity for hybrid schedule: No

Starting Salary Range: $15.68-$19.03 (determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume)

Position Summary: Assist applicants in completing the admissions application process and review applications to determine admissions eligibility based on Kansas state statute and policies of the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) and Johnson County Community College (JCCC).

This is a temporary position from July 15, 2026 - September 30, 2026.

  • High School Diploma or GED required
Position Details

include but are not limited to:

  • Perform significant data entry to process and monitor submitted documents according to state and college admission policies.
  • Review applications to make informed decisions on admissions status, residency, transcript, and assessment test requirements.
  • Correspond with students about enrollment status, admissions decisions, or general questions in person, by email, and by phone in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues preventing students from logging into their student portal account for class enrollment.
  • Examine, enter, verify, and update complex, sensitive academic records/credentials of applicants and accurately record on the Banner student information system.
  • Work with selective admissions software programs to analyze specific data criteria to determine admissions eligibility, such as testing requirements or minimum grade point average.
  • Maintain understanding and ability to expound on the college mission statement, general college policies and procedures, academic programs, admissions requirements, and student life-related opportunities.
  • Track and process high school transcripts following established procedures and utilize those documents to perform transcript/credential evaluations.
