Great early childhood leadership is about more than keeping the day running—it’s about developing people, building trust with families, and helping a school grow.
Our La Petite Academy in Overland Park is looking for an Assistant Director who can do just that. This opportunity is ideal for an early childhood professional who has already begun expanding their leadership beyond their own classroom and is ready to make a broader impact.
You may already be an Assistant Director, or you may be a strong Lead or Mentor Teacher who has taken on additional responsibilities. Experience with coaching teachers, supporting classroom quality, conducting tours, building family relationships, or contributing to enrollment is especially valuable for this team.
What you’ll do:- Coach, mentor, and develop teachers while modeling high-quality classroom practices
- Partner with the Center Director to support licensing, ratios, scheduling, and daily school operations
- Maintain a strong focus on classroom quality and provide meaningful feedback to teachers
- Welcome prospective families, support tours, and help drive enrollment and retention
- Build strong relationships with children, families, and your school team
- Help create a positive, accountable culture where teachers can grow and children can thrive
- Remain connected to the classroom and step in to support ratios and school needs when necessary
- CDA or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Early childhood experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting the development of other educators
- Exposure to tours, enrollment, family engagement, or center operations preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
- A hands-on leadership style and willingness to model expectations alongside the team
- Flexibility to rotate opening and closing responsibilities based on the needs of the school
