This opportunity with Black & Veatch supports civil engineering efforts within the Mission Critical Solution, where infrastructure is designed to protect national security and support high consequence federal missions. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Assistant Engineering Technician supports civil site development by producing and modifying engineering drawings and models under close supervision. This role applies foundational civil engineering principles to develop accurate, high quality deliverables using tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D, helping ensure site designs are functional, and aligned with mission critical goals.

• Provides technical support to engineering teams under close supervision
• Performs tasks requiring a basic understanding of engineering principles and practices
• Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to assist with the creation, modification, and maintenance of technical documents and drawings and project deliverables
• Participates in the evaluation of methods used in the development of deliverables and design activities to support continuous improvement and efficiency
• Continuously learns and applies established standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guidelines, and BV policies and procedures
• Ensures deliverables are accurate and compliant by developing knowledge of the BV Quality Program
• Demonstrates strong personal accuracy and supports continuous improvement and change management initiatives
• Expands technical knowledge to modify and develop less complex deliverables using various design inputs
• May assist with minor technical tasks, such as material quantity estimates and dimensional checks
• May assist with coordination of deliverables with other project disciplines to reduce errors and interferences
• Prioritizes internal client needs while developing a basic understanding of external client drivers and expectations
• Proactively seeks out and shares knowledge of emerging technologies and processes

Diploma or Certificate preferred. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.

Typically a minimum of 1 year related work experience.
