The Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp. provides services to U.S. Government agencies and departments, with expertise in architecture/engineering, defense program, design/build, classified, and environmental disciplines.
The Opportunity- Lead communication designs and coordinate with other disciplines
- Create conceptual and detailed systems designs, including producing design drawings, specifications, and design analysis deliverables
- Coordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing production
- Perform quality control duties and conduct independent technical reviews
- Manage assigned budgets, scopes, and schedules
- Mentor and provide guidance/instruction to less experienced staff members
- Other potential duties:
- May perform fieldwork and write assessment reports
- May assist with creation of design guides and templates
- May provide support to business development or pursuit activities
Because the client is a U.S. Government Agency/Department, the candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, BICSI industry standards, codes and best practices related to the design of ICT, low voltage, and telecommunications systems
- Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems from a safety and constructability perspective
- Strong knowledge of inside plant (ISP) cabling infrastructure, including telecommunications spaces and pathways, copper, and optical fiber cabling and connectivity
- Experience in outside plant (OSP) design of copper and fiber optic communication systems
- 4+ years of experience designing applicable telecommunication systems
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification (required)
