As an entry‑level Electrical Engineer in Overland Park, Kansas, you will help address some of the world’s most pressing infrastructure challenges. You will work on a wide range of projects to meet our clients’ needs and contribute to the growth and success of Black & Veatch.
Key Responsibilities- Read, understand and apply departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
- Understand and comply with the Black & Veatch quality program.
- Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Contribute to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope.
- Perform routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
- Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work.
- Prepare basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
- Understand and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Share information with others as requested.
- Coordinate with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership.
- Focus on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain a basic understanding of external client interests and drivers.
- May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
- Share current knowledge of the latest technology and processes.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Enrolled at a university and obtaining an Electrical Engineering degree or have obtained an Electrical Engineering degree.
- Coursework and knowledge of Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three‑Phase Power Calculations.
- Previous internship experience.
- Basic knowledge of engineering design principles, design guides, and standards.
- Insights into industry trends and developing technologies.
- Fundamental knowledge of construction practices and principles.
- Skilled in problem solving, written communication, and peer relationships.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program, either in the applicant’s home country or in the country of practice. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (if selected), which may include a criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Other InformationHybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment, based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
