TheOpportunity
- Ensure project compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Create and maintain project schedules for mid‑size to large projects.
- Manage the project team’s scope, schedule, budget, and quality on assigned projects.
- Assist in the production of HVAC and plumbing system deliverables (specifications, drawings, calculations, and basis of design documents) for new buildings and for renovation and additions.
- Actively coordinate with other disciplines, clients, and contractors on projects.
- Mentor and share knowledge with other staff members.
- Oversee creation and analysis of project energy modeling and life‑cycle cost analysis using Trace 3D and BLCC.
- Oversee creation of 2‑D drawings (P&IDs, control diagrams, and notes) in REVIT.
- Perform construction period services (review of submits, responses to RFIs, etc.).
- Present to large groups that include clients, peers, contractors, and end‑user groups.
The Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp. provides services to U.S. Government agencies and departments. Our focus areas include Architecture/Engineering (A/E) Services, Defense Program, Design/Build, Classified, and Environmental solutions.
Preferred QualificationsAssigned to projects for U.S. Government Agency/Department clients. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an accredited program.
- Knowledge of building mechanical codes and ability to perform accurate load calculations.
- Strong HVAC / Plumbing design capability in industrial, commercial, central plants, boilers, chillers, and other related markets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred design experience related to any of the following subject matters:
- Federal industry experience
- European, General MILCON, or Civil Works project experience
- Building Controls Systems Design / Building Automation
- CFD modeling
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary.
Work Environment and Schedule- Position requires a typical office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
- Site visits may involve physical tasks such as crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods.
- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
