Prepares and reviews lump sum, unit rate, and cost‑plus estimates for substation, transmission, distribution, and switchyard projects. Takes off, compiles, and reviews bids and proposals for high‑voltage and medium‑voltage electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Conceptual estimating, cost analysis, and estimate coordination and consolidation.
- Review design scope and develop quantities.
- Perform productivity analysis of estimates, prepare contingency, escalation, and reconciliations.
- Compare scope, quantities, and cost data between projects.
- Prepare management presentations and develop the estimate basis.
- Update and maintain historical cost data.
- Review designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggest alternatives.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and change management associated with implementation of improvements.
- BS or MS graduate in Construction Management or related field (preferred).
- Field and/or project experience is a plus.
- Experience with InEight and other estimating software.
- Microsoft Excel and Access proficiency.
- Strong conceptual estimating principles and practices.
- Cost analysis and mathematical skills.
- Project design scope understanding.
- Consulting and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret specifications and contracts.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- 6 to 20 years of relevant experience, including estimating experience.
