The Opportunity

This opportunity with Black & Veatch offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Power Providers Market Sector, supporting Nuclear Generation projects and building critical infrastructure for today's and tomorrow's challenges. Civil professionals contribute to site development efforts, including grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities.

The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high‑quality engineering deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. Under general supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying site development plans using advanced techniques in industry‑standard design tools, such as Autodesk Revit, Bentley Micro Station, and Octave.

As this position supports the global nuclear program at Black & Veatch, any potential offer will be conditional on the individual being able to satisfy all requirements, including citizenship requirements, outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations 10 CFR 810.

Key Responsibilities

* Functions as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor

* Applies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline

* Contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions

* Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) with standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables

* Provides consultation, training, and oversight to other engineering technicians to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project standards

* Establishes and communicates appropriate design and graphic standards

* Reviews project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content

* Promotes quality and consistency across projects, groups, and sections

* Reviews design inputs to ensure alignment and consistency

* Ensures deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards

* May contribute to continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processes

* May participate and lead process improvement and change management activities
