Position Overview
This role supports the global nuclear program at Black & Veitch, providing advanced electrical engineering design for Power Providers Market Sector projects. The Technician develops high‑quality 2D/3D deliverables using Bentley Micro Station and related tools, while ensuring technical quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Acts as a lead technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor, applying advanced expertise to solve complex design challenges.
- Utilizes digital design tools (CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) following standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
- Ensures technical quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance, coordinating efforts across departments, teams, and stakeholders.
- Supervises engineering technicians and support staff, overseeing design activities to ensure quality and alignment with project objectives.
- Establishes, communicates, and enforces design and graphic standards, reviews project requirements, and determines correct formats and deliverable content.
- Promotes quality across projects, groups, and sections; reviews design inputs for consistency and compliance.
- Ensures deliverables are prepared, coordinated among disciplines, and issued in accordance with BV Quality Assurance Procedures.
- Improves integration, coordination, and communication across disciplines; contributes to continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processes.
- Leads or participates in process improvement and change management initiatives; applies sound engineering fundamentals to developing deliverables.
- Exercises judgment, makes work‑related decisions, and guides other professionals.
- Coordinates deliverable presentations, delegates production design or other electronic applications, and monitors production to assure consistency, budget, and schedule.
- Establishes drawing control methods and maintains historical records; programs control systems or participates in plant start‑up activities.
- Leads or supports development of new or updated design applications and processes; coordinates with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information.
- Supports field activities, may manage multiple discipline areas or groups, and communicates project design requirements, progress, and schedules.
- Determines key client interests and drivers, communicates them to team members, and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns.
- Identifies training and development needs, supports personnel development for supervised staff, and champions improvement of project tools and software applications.
- Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology required.
- Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
- Typically a minimum of 15 years related work experience.
- Must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search, as applicable).
- Position requires satisfaction of U.S. citizenship requirements under Code of Federal Regulations 10 CFR 810.
- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
