Lead structural design engineering and analysis on substation scopes. Collect and assimilate data for engineering work and perform research and calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards. Develop recommendations for equipment and materials while working within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements. Support client relationships, guide engineering team members, and contribute to business development activities. Provide technical leadership and, where applicable, supervise engineering staff on medium‑to‑high complexity projects.

• Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Black & Veatch policies.
• Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards.
• Lead quality and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with the Black & Veatch quality program, and prepare complex engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex and complex projects, defining project schedules and managing budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Manage client interests and drivers on projects, communicate with project teams, and support business development or pursuit activities.
• Serve as a technical specialist, providing consultation and guidance to project teams, fostering knowledge management, mentoring, and advancing advanced engineering concepts.
• Implement resource management strategy, manage engineering resources for small groups, and approve timesheets and expense reports.
• Perform office administration, ensure effective implementation of policies and procedures, and adhere to corporate programs.

• Active PE License.
• Advanced knowledge of structural engineering design principles, design guides, and standards.
• Experience with structural steel and concrete using 3D analysis and design software such as RISA 3D, STAAD Pro, or equivalent.
• Foundation design experience with analysis and design software such as LPile, RISA Foundation, or SP‑Mats.
• Experience performing structural connection and miscellaneous calculations using MS Excel and/or Mathcad.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, priority setting, planning, and team building.
• Solid client interaction experience and relationship building in pursuit of business opportunities.
• Ability to think quickly at the job site and with customer personnel.
• Experience with design of utility‑scale electrical substations, energy, renewables, or similar fields (optional).
• Structural design of electrical substation steel structures and their foundations (optional).

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience in engineering work.
• Minimum of 11 years related work experience.
• Completion of pre‑employment onboarding requirements: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search in compliance with applicable laws.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for Black & Veatch projects in applicable countries.
