Associate Acoustics & Noise Control Specialist – full‑time position. Locations include Overland Park, KS;

Key Responsibilities
  • Support acoustical design and noise control engineering for projects, with emphasis on environmental and community noise assessment for power generation, data centers, petrochemical, electric transmission and distribution, water supply, wastewater treatment, and telecommunications projects.
  • Participate in all project phases – feasibility, siting, permitting, independent engineering, engineering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning – evaluating environmental noise risks and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, proposal managers, chief engineers, design engineers, clients, facility owners, and equipment manufacturers to develop practical, cost‑effective noise control and mitigation solutions.
  • Conduct environmental noise assessments: review local, state and federal noise regulations and land use compatibility criteria, identify sensitive receptors, conduct ambient noise surveys, develop and apply environmental noise models, evaluate construction and operational noise impacts, recommend mitigation, and prepare technical reports and supporting documentation for agency and public review.
  • Perform acoustical design studies, develop equipment sound level specifications and mitigation requirements, prepare test protocols, and support noise emissions performance testing to demonstrate compliance. Assist with licensing proceedings, client presentations and expert testimony as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS or MS degree in engineering or science; specialization in acoustics and/or noise control preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting environmental and community noise assessments, acoustical design studies, and noise control engineering activities.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team to achieve timely and accurate project goals.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in acoustical consulting; experience in environmental noise assessment and industrial noise control preferred.
  • Familiarity with environmental noise regulations, noise ordinances, permitting requirements, and land use compatibility criteria applicable to infrastructure and industrial projects.
  • Experience conducting ambient noise monitoring, reviewing field data, and applying environmental noise modeling software.
  • Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, and graphics programs; familiarity with GIS software is beneficial.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and technical writing skills, with ability to prepare clear reports and communicate findings to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Positive, team‑first, get‑the‑job‑done commitment.
  • Domestic travel required; infrequent international travel may be necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a professional degree in Science in the area of expertise preferred. Specialized training or experience that uniquely qualifies the individual may also be considered.
  • Minimum total of 3 years of related work experience. Graduate work may count as related work experience if directly applicable.
  • Applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Work Environment and Schedule
  • Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, performance, and work assignments.
  • Must be able to utilize audio/video conferencing software tools for internal/external communication.
  • Daily sitting/standing/computer usage for extended periods.
  • Domestic travel is required.
Compensation Transparency
  • State of Colorado: $39.24 – $58.87 per hour.
  • State of Minnesota: $37.45 – $56.19 per hour.
