Black & Veatch is seeking an experienced professional to join our Infrastructure Advisory organization as a Senior Specialist to deliver operations and maintenance related projects for power generation assets. This role focuses on lifecycle management of assets and supports the optimization of client asset use and longevity.
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Use operational and maintenance experience to evaluate conventional and renewable technologies, including decommissioning and separation planning of retired client assets.
- Deliver innovative solutions addressing client challenges, utilizing knowledge of power generation assets, condition assessments, outage planning, procedures, specifications, and contract support.
- Work on projects ranging from single facilities to multi‑facility assets primarily in the US, with travel of approximately 20% of the time.
- Expand professional network and shape a career path aligned with aspirations.
- Provide technical consulting on new and existing Power Generation EPC, Modifications & Upgrades, and O&M projects.
- Work directly with Clients and Solution Project Managers on developing asset assessment and decommissioning projects.
- Support the O&M Solution in developing new contracts.
- Develop outage management and process procedures for clients.
- Collaborate with Solution Project Managers to develop proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates.
- Lead preparation of reports, presentations, and other deliverables; manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements; contribute to quality reviews.
- Coordinate with team members and subject matter experts to ensure high‑quality deliverables and successful project outcomes.
- Continuously enhance knowledge and experience in power generation O&M and related topics; mentor professionals in latest technology and processes.
- 15+ years as a Plant Engineer with extensive experience in maintenance and operations of conventional boilers (coal, gas, oil), HRSGs, combustion and steam turbines, generators, BOP, electrical and controls equipment.
- Experience with simple and combined cycle gas turbines (SCGT, CCGT) and solid fuel handling:
- Power plant operations & maintenance processes, construction, outage, startup, and routine field experience.
- Outage management and planning, including technical outage reporting.
- O&M and capital budget planning and monitoring.
- Knowledge of regulatory and environmental requirements during O&M and outage planning.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Bachelor of Arts or Science, preferably in business, technology, or engineering, or relevant business experience.
- Minimum 7 years related work experience.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, vehicle records).
Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable, are preferred.
Work Environment/Physical DemandsBandV Office Environment or Client Site – up to 100% travel.
