This role supports Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects. The senior engineering technician develops high‑quality electrical design drawings using Bentley Micro Station and related tools, with a focus on duct bank design, cable tray design, grounding, lighting, and other electrical systems. Advanced knowledge of project budgets and schedules is required.
Experience with AGI
32 for lighting design is preferred.
- Functions as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor.
- Applies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline.
- Contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions.
- Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
- Provides consultation, training, and oversight to other engineering technicians.
- Establishes and communicates appropriate design and graphic standards.
- Reviews project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content.
- Promotes quality and consistency across projects, groups, and sections.
- Reviews design inputs to ensure alignment and consistency.
- Ensures deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards.
- May contribute to continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processes.
- May participate and lead process improvement and change management activities.
- Manages drawing control and maintains historical project records.
- Applies engineering principles and established design practices to complex designs.
- Exercises sound judgment in interpreting inputs and making deliverable‑related decisions.
- Handles complex technical assignments and provides guidance to other professionals.
- Performs design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation.
- May review deliverables produced by others for quality and accuracy.
- May coordinate presentations, production design, and use of electronic design tools.
- May monitor production to ensure consistency, budget, and schedule.
- May program control systems or support plant start‑up activities within area of expertise.
- Coordinates with other design groups to exchange information for design development.
- May support field activities as required.
- Communicates project design requirements, progress, and schedules.
- Assists with identification of key client interests and drivers; communicates these to project team and develops approaches to accommodate concerns.
- Identifies and supports training and development needs for supervised personnel.
- Recognized for expertise; may be assigned special assignments.
- Makes presentations and conducts training classes within a specialized area of expertise.
- Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology required.
- Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
- Typically a minimum of 11 years related work experience.

Annual compensation ranges by state or jurisdiction:
- Colorado: $96,921 – $161,843
- Minnesota: $92,516 – $154,487
