OpportunityThis role supports the global nuclear program within the Power Providers Market Sector and plays a key technical role in developing high‑quality engineering deliverables for complex infrastructure projects. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician works under general supervision to create and modify detailed 3D models and 2D deliverables—including piping layouts, isometrics, and equipment arrangements—using industry‑standard design tools such as Bentley Micro Station, Open Plant Modeler, and Octave (formerly Hexagon Forte 3D, Facets P&).
Key Responsibilities- Function in a project engineering technician capacity.
- Support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables.
- Apply foundational engineering principles and established design practices to create moderately complex design concepts and solutions.
- Utilize digital tools and design software (CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.
- Apply knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes, and BV policies and procedures.
- Review project requirements and determine the correct format and contents of required deliverables.
- Proactively apply the BV Quality Program to deliverables, demonstrating personal accuracy and supporting continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Review design inputs to ensure consistency and help ensure deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards.
- Apply basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing moderately complex design concepts and deliverables.
- Handle difficult technical assignments within an area of expertise and provide technical guidance to other professionals.
- Perform design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and record keeping.
- Review the deliverables of others.
- Define work assignments and maintain schedules.
- Program control systems or participate in other plant start‑up activities related to a specialized area of expertise.
- Coordinate with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.
- Support field activities as needed, focusing on the needs of internal clients while understanding external clients’ main interests and drivers.
- Proactively seek and share knowledge of latest technologies and processes.
- Apply judgment and make decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation.
- Diploma or Certificate required.
- Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
- Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Citizenship requirements outlined in Code of Federal Regulations 10 CFR 810 must be satisfied as the position supports the global nuclear program.
- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
Annual compensation ranges by state:
Colorado: $74,360 – $124,190;
