Job Summary
Senior Process Engineer – Mining Water and Wastewater Treatment
Lead and design treatment for raw water supply, mine contact water, process wastewater, and mine effluent systems across active and legacy mining operations. Provide technical leadership in the planning, design, and delivery of water treatment, reuse, and management systems across the mining lifecycle, develop and present technical evaluations, supervise junior engineers, and manage design deliverables and project budgets.
Key Responsibilities- Design process engineering for water and wastewater treatment and delivery systems.
- Evaluate, select and integrate treatment technologies including biological treatment, membrane systems, and solids handling.
- Prepare moderately complex process engineering deliverables: PFDs, water balances, MSDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets and specifications.
- Perform complex research and provide recommendations for equipment/materials selection; conduct detailed design and procurement, including construction and commissioning support.
- Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Review junior engineering work or assignments.
- Collaborate with hydrology, hydrogeology, and civil teams on integrated water resource solutions across mine life cycles.
- Serve as a technical specialist, providing consultation and guidance to project teams.
- Coordinate with industrial water teams on thought leadership and presentations at critical conferences.
- Assist in identifying key client interests and drivers; support feasibility studies and closure strategies.
- Provide support to business development and pursuit activities including pre-positioning meetings, proposal development, and client interviews.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards.
- Strong understanding of mine water quality challenges (metals, salinity, sulfate, variable flow).
- Experience with Gold Sim modeling.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to drive results, prioritize, plan, delegate, manage conflict, and build effective teams.
- Deep understanding of consulting, project execution, client services, and business development.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 11 years related work experience.
- Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records).
- Professional Engineer registration or licensure, or willingness/ability to pursue such registration.
Typical office and construction environments; exposure to extreme weather, high noise, safety hazards (electric currents, scaffolding, high places, chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases). Tasks include sitting, walking, talking, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods, lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, performance, and assignments.
