Lead Engineering Technician
Object Technology Solutions, Inc (OTSI) has an immediate opening for a Lead Engineering Technician (Locations: Overland Park, Ann Arbor, Houston, Phoenix, Raleigh, Chattanooga, Chicago, Jacksonville, Gaithersburg). Major responsibilities include functioning in a lead technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisory role, applying advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline and contributing to the development of innovative engineering solutions.
Utilizes digital design tools and software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modelling) following standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. Responsible for technical quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance, while effectively coordinating efforts across departments, teams, and stakeholders. May supervise engineering technicians and support staff by coordinating, overseeing, and guiding conceptual and detailed design activities to ensure quality, efficiency, and alignment with project objectives.
Skills and abilities
required include establishing, communicating, and enforcing design and graphic standards; reviewing project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content; promoting quality across projects, groups, and sections; reviewing design inputs to ensure consistency and compliance; ensuring that design deliverables are prepared, coordinated among disciplines, and issued in accordance with client Quality Assurance Procedures and project specific procedures; improving integration, coordination, and communication across disciplines;
applying sound engineering fundamentals and established design practices in developing deliverables; exercising judgment, making work-related decisions, and guiding other professionals; monitoring production to assure consistency, budget, and schedule of deliverables; establishing drawing control methods and maintaining historical records; supporting field activities; communicating project design requirements, progress, and schedules; and championing development and improvement of project tools and software applications.
Qualifications and experience include an associate degree in drafting or an engineering design related technology required. Power generation design industry experience. Typically a minimum of 15 years related work experience. Experience with 3D modeling of equipment, duct bank design, cable tray design, grounding, lighting (extra). AGI experience is not required but preferred. Candidate will be using Bentley Micro Station primarily. Bachelor degree in an engineering design related technology preferred.
