Object Technology Solutions, Inc (OTSI) is seeking an Instrument/Communications Engineering Specialist (I/C) located in Overland Park, KS or alternate sites in Denver, CO or Arlington, VA. This position is onsite.
Major Responsibilities- Lead communication designs and coordinate with other disciplines.
- Create conceptual and detailed systems designs, including design drawings, specifications, and design analysis deliverables.
- Coordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing production.
- Perform quality control duties and independent technical reviews.
- Manage assigned budgets, scopes, and schedules.
- Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced staff.
- Other potential duties include fieldwork, assessment report writing, creation of design guides and templates, and support for business development or pursuit activities.
Required
- Experience supporting U.S. Government Agency/Department clients on projects within Architecture/Engineering, Defense Program, Design/Build, Classified, and Environmental domains.
- Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, BICSI industry standards, codes, and best practices related to ICT, low voltage, and telecommunications systems.
- Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems from a safety and constructability perspective.
- Strong knowledge of inside plant (ISP) cabling infrastructure, including telecommunications spaces, pathways, copper, and optical fiber cabling and connectivity.
- Experience in outside plant (OSP) design of copper and fiber optic communication systems.
- Experience in audio‑visual (AV) system design.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience designing applicable telecommunication systems.
- All applicants must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, which may include background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle record searches.
- Criminal/civil background check.
- Drug screen.
- Motor vehicle records search.
- Certified Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification is required.
- Certified Technology Specialist – Design (CTS‑D) certification is preferred.
- Will consider candidates with direct Federal experience who do not yet hold an RCDD but intend to sit for the exam within the next few months.
