Field Project Controls Scheduler

Location: Claude, TX (near Amarillo, TX)

Pay Rate: $64.00 - $67.83 per hour

Schedule: 50 hours per week (5 days/week, 10-hour days)

This position supports a large-scale power generation construction project in Claude, Texas. The project is currently in Phase 1 with potential for extension based on project needs.

Travel & Per Diem
  • Per diem available for qualified candidates residing more than 50 miles from the project site.
  • Mobilization and demobilization assistance available for eligible candidates.
Position Summary

The Field Project Controls Scheduler supports project controls activities focusing on planning and scheduling. The role works closely with project management and construction teams to develop, maintain, and analyze project schedules while supporting overall project execution.

The ideal candidate has experience with EPC projects and strong scheduling, forecasting, and project controls skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update Level III project schedules.
  • Lead schedule development activities, including resource loading and schedule optimization.
  • Perform critical path and float analysis.
  • Identify schedule risks and provide mitigation recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain earned value reporting and performance metrics.
  • Support project forecasting and schedule progress evaluations.
  • Assist with change management activities and schedule impact assessments.
  • Coordinate scheduling efforts with project management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
  • Monitor project performance against baseline schedules and milestones.
  • Support project controls reporting and project status updates.
Risk Analysis & Forecasting
  • Identify schedule risks, delays, and opportunities.
  • Evaluate impacts to project timelines and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support forecasting efforts to improve schedule accuracy and project execution.
Resource Planning
  • Assist with labor, equipment, and material resource planning.
  • Support resource leveling activities to maximize efficiency and minimize bottlenecks.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • Bachelor's degree plus 3+ years of project controls, planning, or scheduling experience; OR
  • 6+ years of relevant project controls, cost control, planning, or scheduling experience without a bachelor's degree.
  • EPC project experience preferred.
  • Construction, industrial, energy, or infrastructure project experience preferred.
Scheduling & Project Controls
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.
  • Experience developing and maintaining complex project schedules.
  • Experience with schedule analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
Project Performance Management
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Experience measuring project performance against established baselines.
  • Understanding of project controls methodologies and reporting practices.
Planning & Risk Management
  • Experience developing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  • Ability to perform schedule risk analysis and forecasting.
  • Experience evaluating and documenting schedule impacts resulting from project changes.
Resource Management
  • Understanding of labor, equipment, and material resource planning.
  • Experience with resource allocation and resource leveling techniques.
Professional Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team environment.
