Overland Park, KS, Denver, CO, Houston, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Tualatin, OR Compensation Range : $35.00 HR - $38.00 HR W2 Medical, Dental and Vision benefits are made available after 90 days. There are no additional benefits provided during the contract period (no PTO, no Paid Holidays, etc.).
The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Associate Civil Engineering Technician plays a vital role in the delivery of high-quality engineering deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects, working alongside a collaborative and experienced team of professionals. Under close supervision, this role performs technical civil engineering design tasks, with an emphasis on the preparation and modification of site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts.
Work is performed using advanced, industry-standard design tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D, PVcase and PVFarm.
- Supports engineering teams under general supervision
- Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)
- Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
- Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technician
- Stay current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, and BV policies and procedures
- Apply knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives
- Use and expand applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures
- Create and develop project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs
- Perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks
- Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences
- Support internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers
- Proactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes
- Experience with Civil 3D grading
- Autodesk Civil 3D
- Typically a minimum of 2 years related work experience.
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
- Diploma or Certificate required. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
- Solar experience
- PVcase and PV Farm software experience
