Position Summary
The RF Design Engineer is responsible for the design and development of RF and microwave systems from initial requirements through design validation and release to production. This role supports the program engineering team in the development of navigation aid (Navaid) systems and associated RF hardware.
Duties and Responsibilities- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Perform RF and microwave design activities from initial documentation of design requirements through design validation and release to production.
- Support program engineering teams involved in the design and development of Navaid systems.
- Design and develop microstrip and stripline circuits and assemblies.
- Design high-power pulsed RF amplifiers, with emphasis on L-Band pulse power applications.
- Perform RF circuit layout, analysis, simulation, and troubleshooting.
- Utilize RF circuit analysis and simulation software, including Touchstone or equivalent tools.
- Design RF components including power splitters, combiners, and modulators.
- Support design validation, testing, troubleshooting, and transition of products into production.
- Participate in continuous improvement and Quality Improvement Process initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
- 5-10 years of experience as an RF/Microwave Design Engineer.
- Experience developing RF-based systems for FAA, Department of Defense (DoD), avionics, navigation, or similar applications is preferred.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience designing RF circuits across frequencies ranging from approximately 75 MHz to 1500 MHz
. - Strong experience with L-Band pulsed RF and pulse power design
. - Experience designing and analyzing high-power pulsed RF amplifiers.
- Knowledge of microstrip and stripline design and construction.
- Ability to design RF power splitters, combiners, and modulators.
- Strong understanding of RF circuit layout, simulation, and analysis.
- A strong analog circuit design background is highly desirable.
- Ability to analyze technical requirements, solve complex engineering problems, and support products throughout the development lifecycle.
- Ability to organize work effectively and prioritize tasks appropriately.
- Ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail while working on complex technical assignments.
- Ability to view and work at a computer screen for extended periods.
- Sufficient finger dexterity to operate a computer and other standard engineering equipment.
This role may be authorized to access Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) as required to perform assigned duties related to defense contract work. Any access to CUI will be granted according to the principle of least privilege and limited to the specific responsibilities, duties, and business need of the role.
