Job SummaryAs a Summer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will play a meaningful role in addressing some of the world’s most critical infrastructure challenges. This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to diverse, impactful projects that support our clients’ goals while fostering your professional growth and advancing the success of Black & Veatch.
Join our team as a Mechanical Engineer within our Buildings sub‑discipline, where you'll support HVAC/Plumbing projects within Advanced Power Generation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, evaluate, and design specifications and contract drawings
- Involves the design of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, standby power, flood control systems, and other specialties.
- Perform variety of tasks to support engineering analyses, report production, and designs
- Prepare basic calculations
- Assist in basic equipment selection
- Coordinate with other disciplines
- Collect, organize, and evaluate data
Preferred
Skills:
- Thermodynamic, Heat Transfer, and Fluid Dynamics courses preferred.
- Communications skills, both written and oral
- Mathematical skills
No experience required. Current enrollment in ABET accredited university in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering program. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Work Environment/Physical DemandsThis intern position is expected to be in the office on a full‑time basis.
