Job SummaryThe Intern Engineering position provides an opportunity to gain practical industry experience, acquire foundational knowledge, and develop technical skills under the guidance of experienced professionals. Interns apply established techniques and procedures to assigned tasks and assist Engineers with routine technical work that does not require prior professional experience.
Interns may have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of engineering disciplines, including Track/Rail Design, Traffic & Civil Engineering, Bridge & Structures, Project Controls, Project Management, and Construction Management. Specific assignments and areas of focus may vary based on business needs, project requirements, and the intern’s interests and qualifications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assist engineers in performing work assignments
- Proficient with electronic communications including email and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
- Advanced oral and written communication skills
- Lead project meetings and makes presentations
- Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations
- This position may require travel. On occasion, travel to Rail Pros headquarters, field offices, client offices, work sites, and other project related locations may be required
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture, free from behaviors that undermine morale, productivity, or organizational values
- Uphold the organization’s standards of integrity, accountability, and respect in all duties and interactions
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulation
- Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with electronic communication including email and text, as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
- Possess basic oral and written communication skills
- Interact with other staff
Education and Experience
- Completed or working towards a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
- No required experience
The work is primarily in a professional office environment but may include temporary field assignments.
Physical DemandsThis is largely a sedentary role; however, some field work may be required.
This would require the ability to drive a vehicle and travel on uneven ground surfaces in limited access sites.
