Accounting & Finance Recruiting Manager at Morgan HunterWe are seeking a results-oriented, detail-focused accounting professional to join our team as a Real Estate Controller. This key role will oversee the financial operations and reporting for a dynamic portfolio of commercial real estate assets, including development projects, income-producing properties, and investment vehicles. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting expertise, hands-on experience in commercial real estate, and a proactive approach to financial strategy and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting for commercial real estate development entities, stabilized assets, and investment holdings.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, construction draw packages, and budget-to-actual reports.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including vendor payments, tenant invoicing, and collections.
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, cash flow tracking, and balance sheet analysis.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations, including 1099s, property taxes, and sales/use tax filings.
- Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and CPAs, ensuring complete and timely submission of financial documentation.
- Manage CAM (Common Area Maintenance) and NNN reconciliations; invoice tenants per lease agreements and monitor recoveries.
- Develop and maintain property-level budgets, forecasts, and Net Operating Income (NOI) tracking reports.
- Assist with acquisitions and dispositions, providing financial due diligence, lease abstracting, and expense verification.
- Analyze lease and vendor contracts to track financial obligations and key terms.
- Maintain digital financial records and implement internal controls to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Accounting strongly preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus in commercial real estate or property management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Yardi and Quick Books is a strong plus.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Deep understanding of commercial real estate financial metrics, GAAP, and industry best practices.
