Divisional Controller

Creative Planning’s Divisional Controller is responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in producing timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP. In addition, the Controller will ensure strong financial controls are executed and documented properly. Operating in a high growth, fast paced environment the Controller will assist in the analysis of key performance metrics, trends, and forecasts while focusing on process improvements and evaluating potential technology upgrades/enhancements for the finance function.

• Oversee proper recording of consolidation entries to produce a single set of GAAP financials with multiple underlying entities
• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure a timely and efficient audit is conducted
• Oversee and review key account reconciliations on a monthly and/or quarterly basis
• Ensure that the proper adjusting entries are made in order to comply GAAP
• Ensure that acquisitions are properly accounted for in the financial statements, including the monitoring and calculation of amortization expense and deferred payments
• Develop and maintain a detailed financial procedures manual including specific timelines for production
• Review and enhance internal control procedures including maintenance of documentation, control assessments, etc.
• Evaluate existing financial software system for enhanced functionality that could reduce risks and improve efficiency in the production of the financial statements
• Assist with review of contracts and third-party due diligence
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area
• 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience

• Experience in the financial services field, particularly with a Wealth Advisory, Retirement or Investment Management firm
