Senior Accountant – Cash & Payment Operations

We're hiring a Senior Accountant to join a high-volume operational accounting team responsible for the full payment lifecycle — from journal entry and clearing account management through to bank deposit reconciliation.
This team processes approximately $5.5–6 billion in payments monthly and works directly with Treasury and operational billing systems.

• Manage high-volume customer payment accounting across retail and POS channels
• Process and reconcile journal entries through the full payment lifecycle — order management system, clearing account, and bank reconciliation
• Partner with Treasury and billing teams on GL-related matters
• Coordinate with offshore team members on Tier 2 issues; elevate and resolve onshore as needed
• Drive self-directed process improvement initiatives in a data-heavy environment

We're looking for candidates with hands-on transactional accounting experience — not high-level analysis, but granular, customer-level work kgrounds that translate well include:

• High volume experience, supported over $1B in transactions/month
• Credit card or card processor accounting
• Utility, AR, or billing-related customer accounting
• Lockbox and cash management operations

• SQL — querying and managing large transactional datasets
• Alteryx — data blending and workflow automation
• AI tools (Claude and similar) — this team is actively moving toward AI-assisted operations
• Advanced Excel

Note:

The forward-looking model for this team is AI-driven. Over the next 2–4 years, day-to-day journal entry work is expected to transition to AI agents, with accountants shifting into an oversight and management role.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred over general business)
• 5+ years of accounting experience at the Senior Accountant level
• Experience managing payment volumes exceeding $1B/month in transactions — this is a high-scale environment and prior exposure to that level of throughput is strongly preferred
• Experience in at least one of: retail POS accounting, credit card/card processor, AR billing, cash management, or lockbox
• Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence — this is a collaborative environment with onshore and offshore team members
• Self-starter with the ability to manage project work independently
