Underwriter, Risk Manager/Analyst
Underwriting Position
This position will underwrite all first mortgage files according to FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA/USDA and credit union guidelines. Responsible for the safety and soundness of the credit union client portfolio and salability of loans.
Duties & Responsibilities- Responsible for underwriting first mortgages per the guidelines of FNMA/FHLMC/USDA.
- FHA underwriting to HUD guidelines.
- VA SAR Responsibilities and underwriting to VA guidelines.
- Product Training.
- Research new products.
- Keep abreast on agency guideline changes and communicate effectively to the team.
- Promotes honest and open communication throughout the credit union.
- Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with the credit union's values, philosophies, and leadership characteristics.
- Work with other credit union departments to ensure the workflow or process is providing the best service to the members.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Mastery of FNMA/FHLMC/USDA underwriting guidelines
- DE/SAR
- Strong FHA and VA underwriting experience.
- Experience utilizing a PC with word processing and spread sheet applications
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications.
- Knowledge of spreadsheet software and ability to use word processing software.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must be able to be bonded.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
In this position, individual will be expected to lift up to 20 pounds from time to time. Also, must be able to stoop, bend, reach, or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position is expected to work in general office environment and must have an automobile to travel within the local area and be able to attend various schools, seminars and workshops as required.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- One or more years underwriting first mortgages to FNMA/FHLMC/VA/FHA/USDA guidelines.
- Appropriate experience of at least two years may be substituted for the above requirements.
