Inpatient Pharmacist

Job Description

BJC Health Care/Saint Luke’s is seeking a dedicated Inpatient Pharmacist to join our team at Saint Luke’s South Hospital in Overland Park, KS.

This role is designed for a pharmacist who excels in clinical decision‑making and collaborative care within a high‑functioning health system. You will be responsible for end‑to‑end medication management—from complex pharmacokinetic consultations to supervising supportive staff—while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety.

• Status: Part‑Time (24 hours/week).
• Shift: Swing shift coverage between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
• Rotation: One weekend per month and one Friday evening every two months; includes a holiday rotation.
• Note: This position includes support for the Community Hospital location.

• Clinical Excellence: Design and monitor therapeutic plans, conduct pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic evaluations, and provide expert drug information to the interdisciplinary team.
• Patient Advocacy: Deliver comprehensive medication counseling to patients and caregivers to ensure safe and effective transitions of care.
• Operational Oversight: Interpret and dispense medication orders with precision while maintaining secure, compliant distribution systems.
• Safety & Quality: Proactively manage and report adverse drug events (ADEs) and medication errors to drive continuous improvement in patient outcomes.
• Leadership: Supervise pharmacy technicians and supportive personnel, manage departmental projects, and contribute to a culture of professional development.

• Experience: Open to early‑career professionals (less than 1 year of applicable experience).
• Skills: Strong critical thinking, ability to work within an EMR‑driven environment, and excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration.
