Job Description- Supports the surgeon and/or qualified first assistant during procedures by performing tasks such as sponging, suctioning, cutting sutures, holding retractors, and manipulating the endoscopic camera.
- Monitors conditions in the operating room, assesses needs of the patient and surgical team, and obtains additional instruments, supplies, and equipment as necessary.
- Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment, providing orientation, training, and education to new personnel.
- Promotes a safe environment, takes appropriate action in emergency situations, and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and policies.
- Other duties as assigned. Gathers, checks, and opens supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures, ensuring all items are functional and readily available.
- Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.
- Basic skills related to aseptic/sterile technique and knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
- Up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments, supplies, and commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and local, state, and national laws.
- Ability to understand and process dictated instructions and directions.
- Associate [Preferred]
- High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
- Technical/Vocational School graduate from school of surgical technology or equivalent (e.g., military training program) [Required]
- Graduate from school of surgical technology or equivalent (e.g., military training program)
- 1+ experience [Preferred]
- N/A
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
