The role you will contributePrimary responsibility is the provision of medication distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, perform duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs, including compounding, dispensing, charging, and delivery of medications to patients. Prepare sterile products (IV solutions, piggyback containers, irrigations, TPNs, prefilled syringes, reconstitutions) under aseptic conditions. Maintain a clean work area and equipment, perform clerical and specialized duties, and assist in training pharmacy technicians.
Accurately refill and conduct inventory of medication dispensing systems and load/unload medications as directed. Support front reception tasks and assist in reporting and distribution of IV solutions. Provide distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the pharmacist, and participate in specialty pharmacy services. Foster an organized and functional pharmacy service while maintaining patient records and ensuring excellent customer service.
- Actively perform all pharmacy technician functions and maintain proficiency in standard work parameters, hospital and pharmacy computer systems, and operational programs
- Utilize medication automation and technology; interpret electronic medical records accurately
- Support automated dispensing cabinet inventory and troubleshoot cabinet issues
- Accurately complete medication inventories and prepare/dispense patient-specific doses; ensure proper drug, dose, expiration dating, and barcode scanning
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1 year of contemporary hospital pharmacy experience, retail or ambulatory experience required
- Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT-LIC) required
