This opportunity is designed for registered nurses with experience or interest in step-down and acute rehabilitation settings. The role involves providing skilled nursing care on a 30-bed acute medical-surgical unit with a focus on rehabilitation services. You will support patients requiring telemetry monitoring, blood glucose management, administration of blood products, and central line care, among other duties. This position features a night schedule with three 12-hour shifts, allowing for concentrated work hours over the contract period.

Situated in Overland Park, KS, this role is accessible to clinicians comfortable with travel or relocation. Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care on a step-down unit with a rehab emphasis.
  • Monitor patients using telemetry, both on-unit and remotely.
  • Administer medications including insulin and blood products.
  • Perform blood glucose monitoring and manage Foley catheter removal.
  • Conduct fall risk assessments and implement prevention strategies.
  • Practice infection control and follow isolation protocols.
  • Utilize lift equipment and EPIC electronic health record system.
  • Float within assigned departments or units as required to meet facility needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Valid RN license with at least one year of clinical nursing experience.
  • Skills in telemetry monitoring, insulin protocols, and central line care.
  • Ability to administer and monitor blood products.
  • Proficiency with infection prevention protocols and fall risk assessments.
  • Experience in acute rehab or medical-surgical nursing preferred.
  • First-time step-down nurses are welcome to apply.
Schedule:
  • Night shifts
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Additional Details:
  • Minimum weekend commitment of 8 shifts every 6 weeks.
  • Holiday work required if it falls on scheduled days.
  • Regular floating between units may be necessary.
  • Contract assignment with no more than 7 days return to office restrictions.
  • Local candidates must reside at least 75 miles away from the site.
