Security Engineer

Overview

Our client is seeking a Security Engineer who specializes in Data Loss Protection to leverage the Microsoft Purview suite and safeguard critical data assets across a hybrid environment. This role will serve as the subject-matter expert for designing, implementing, and managing data-centric security controls within Microsoft Purview and Azure, while collaborating with business, legal, and compliance teams.

• Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive data protection strategy utilizing Microsoft Purview governance and compliance portal.
• Deploy and configure Microsoft Purview solutions including DLP, Microsoft Information Protection, Insider Risk Management, and eDiscovery.
• Create, tune, and monitor Data Loss Prevention policies for endpoints, email, Microsoft Teams, and Cloud applications.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for data-related security incidents using Purview tools for investigation and response.
• Coach and mentor security team members on data protection best practices.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of Information Security experience with 3+ years focused on data protection or data governance.
• Deep hands-on experience with the Microsoft Purview suite including DLP, MIP/AIP, Data classification, and Insider Risk Management.
• Extensive experience with the Microsoft Azure ecosystem and securing data within Azure services.
• Proficiency with Power Shell for automating security and compliance tasks.

• SC-400:
  Microsoft Information Protection Administrator certification.
• AZ-500 or other relevant Microsoft security certifications.
• Solid understanding of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
• Availability for on-call rotation and response to critical incidents outside regular business-hours.

This is a 6-Month Contract-to-Hire opportunity with our Overland Park, KS client.
