Position Summary
The Senior Network Security Engineer is responsible for coordinating security planning with the IT Security team, IT Infrastructure Operations, and IT Service desk on enhancing and furthering the security of the network from all vantage points. The role requires wide knowledge of all facets of IT's roles for the institution and close teamwork with all parties. The engineer will also lead edge security planning, along with transport and coordinating with the lead network architect on network design and growth for a scalable, secure design.
An ability to adapt to ever‑changing technology and security requirements and business needs is essential.
- Lead planning on secure network design in coordination with IT Security, IT Infrastructure Operations, and IT Service Desk.
- Coordinate response of identified risks and vulnerabilities with the proper business leads.
- Coordinate responses to external audits and risk assessments.
- Design, support, and oversee NAC software, firewall and VPN configurations and deployments, and IDS/IPS configuration and maintenance.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Plan and execute repair plans and/or designs under intense situations.
- Work with technical and non‑technical business owners to achieve results in alignment with strategic priorities, explaining technical requirements and issues in an easily understood manner.
- Have a wide understanding of vendor‑agnostic firewall, VPN, and NAC platforms.
- 3 years of related network security experience.
- CCNP Security required.
- CISSP strongly preferred.
- CCNP Enterprise preferred.
Base Pay Range: $97,000-$140,000/year. Salary is based on duties, qualifications, experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.
