Frisco, TX/Overland Park, KS - Onsite Shift: 24x7 Rotational (including weekends and holidays) Duration: 6+ months
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented T1 Network Operations Center (NoC) Operator to support Day 2 monitoring and basic troubleshooting of Telco Core Applications deployed on a Red Hat Open Shift-based hybrid cloud platform. The candidate will be responsible for real-time health monitoring, alert validation, initial triage, and routing incidents appropriately, ensuring platform reliability and service continuity.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Operations
- Perform continuous health checks and real-time monitoring of Telco Core network functions and containerized applications.
- Use observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Open Search, or One Console) to track system health, resource usage, and service metrics.
- Acknowledge, validate, and log alerts triggered by monitoring systems.
- Understand platform and application-level telemetry data to identify symptoms of degraded service.
Incident Handling & Escalation
- Perform first-level diagnosis to isolate faults (log analysis, symptom matching, known errors).
- Document issues in the ticketing system (e.g., Service Now) with clear categorization and impact statements.
- Escalate incidents to Tier 2 support based on defined runbooks and escalation matrix.
Runbook Execution
- Execute predefined operational SOPs and L1 playbooks for alert remediation (e.g., pod restarts, basic config verifications).
- Track and report progress on ticket resolutions during shifts.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Coordinate with Tier 2/Tier 3 teams for unresolved/complex incidents.
- Participate in shift handover activities ensuring knowledge transfer.
- Maintain shift logs, incident timelines, and daily activity reports.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Diploma/Bachelor's degree in IT, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in a telecom or cloud-based NOC environment.
- Exposure to Red Hat Open Shift (OCP) platform and container-based ecosystems is required.
- Experience supporting Telco Core applications (IMS, PCRF, HSS, 5GC, etc.) in production is preferred.
Skills
- Understanding of Day 2 operations (monitoring, scaling, logging, fault detection) in a Telco environment.
- Familiarity with cloud-native observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Alert manager, Open Search, etc.).
- Basic understanding of Kubernetes/Open Shift concepts: pods, name spaces, deployments, health probes.
- Working knowledge of Linux CLI and troubleshooting commands.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to follow SOPs, handle shift-based work, and act quickly under pressure.
Preferred Certifications (Not Mandatory)
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in Open Shift Administration - CCNA / CompTIA Network+ - Any certification related to Kubernetes/Cloud Monitoring
