Senior Operational Resilience Engineer

The Senior Operational Resilience Engineer supports Cboe Technology and Operations by owning and evolving the systems, automations, and processes that underpin operational risk control. This role focuses on established ownership of operational resilience domains and serves as a credible interface to regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities- Independently own meaningful components of operational resilience platforms, systems, or delivery work streams.
- Design, build, and maintain end-to-end automations with minimal guidance that streamline incident lifecycle management from detection through learning review and post‑incident action tracking.
- Represent operational control functions directly to regulators and auditors; support examinations, audits, and regulatory inquiries with confidence and authority.
- Lead evidence collection and audit readiness activities within owned domains.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of control documentation, runbooks, and regulatory attestation packages.
- Integrate operational systems to enable real‑time data flow across incident, change, and compliance platforms.
- Develop AI‑assisted workflows to enrich incidents, surface risk signals, and accelerate decision‑making.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational practices, processes, and standards.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to more junior team members.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational metrics through instrumentation and observability.
- Ownership of a defined operational resilience domain (e.g., DR evidence automation, incident enrichment pipeline).
- Regulatory and audit evidence packages for owned control areas.
- Tailored automation solutions addressing compliance or operational risk gaps.
- Runbooks and standards documentation meeting regulatory and audit requirements.
Expert‑level knowledge in one or more regulatory and operational resiliency frameworks—such as NIST, FFIEC, SOC2, DORA, RegSCI, CFTC System Safeguards, or PCIDSS—combined with expert‑level knowledge of one or more critical operational risk control processes, including incident management, BCP/DR, or change management.
Strong engineering capabilities including APIs and systems integration, cloud automation, CI/CD, event‑driven architecture, workflow orchestration, observability tooling, and scripting proficiency in Python, Power Shell, or equivalent.
5+ years of experience in computer science, computer networking, and/or computer infrastructure.
Minimum education:
Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, Business, Financial Services, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
- Ability to effectively lead meetings in technical settings among multiple stakeholders with varied backgrounds and viewpoints.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, able to work well under pressure.
- Experience with Atlassian Suite products.
- Experience responding to, documenting, and leading technical incident response.
- Experience developing AI‑assisted workflows.
- Experience engaging with regulators, auditors, or compliance teams in a technical capacity.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, especially in a technical setting.

Salary RangeBase salary range: $102,000–$132,000, with additional annual incentive compensation and long‑term equity programs as applicable.
