Overland Park (onsite 4 days a week) Salary: 140-150K + Bonus - depends on experience Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of overall IT experience with a strong foundation in systems, infrastructure, networking, or administration
- Experience supporting Linux, Windows, or network environments
- Security engineering, security operations, SIEM, endpoint security, or related cybersecurity experience
- Experience troubleshooting technical issues at the operating system, server, or infrastructure level
- Understanding of enterprise security concepts and technologies
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Network engineering or firewall administration experience
- Experience with SIEM platforms
- Experience with EDR and endpoint security tools
- Experience with email security technologies
- Experience with DLP or data protection solutions
- Security certifications such as CISSP, Security+, or similar
Overview
Our client is seeking a Security Engineer to join a growing cybersecurity team responsible for protecting enterprise systems, infrastructure, and data across multiple security domains. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical professional who began their career in systems, networking, or infrastructure administration and transitioned into cybersecurity.
The Security Engineer will support technologies including endpoint security, SIEM, email security, data protection, and broader security operations initiatives. While candidates may specialize in one discipline, they must be eager to collaborate across multiple security functions and continuously expand their technical expertise.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities- Administer and support enterprise security platforms and tools
- Monitor, investigate, and remediate security incidents and alerts
- Support and maintain SIEM, endpoint security, and email security technologies
- Assist with data protection and DLP initiatives
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, server, and system issues impacting security operations
- Partner with IT teams to improve overall security posture
- Perform security analysis, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical security events and outages
- Document procedures, configurations, and security processes
- Collaborate with team members across multiple security disciplines and provide coverage as needed
