The Associate Subcontracts Manager oversees assigned subcontract activities for a proposal and/or project, may develop and/or administer related subcontracts, lead office teams, and champion the Subcontracts process across all office and field activities.
Key Responsibilities General Responsibilities- Prepare and manage assigned subcontracts for projects, following established policies and procedures.
- Ensure subcontract documents are issued correctly and on schedule.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of project subcontract budgets and schedules (e.g., man‑hours, cost, subcontract milestone durations).
- Assist with the establishment and/or monitoring of subcontract goals.
- Participate in meetings for assigned project(s), representing the Subcontracts department.
- File appropriate documents and follow filing rules.
- Solicit budgetary pricing for subcontracts to support estimating/proposal efforts for major projects; may lead the entire budgetary pricing effort on non‑major projects.
- Execute and manage the subcontract development process on assigned subcontracts, including bid list preparation, solicitation of RFPs, and evaluating, negotiating and awarding subcontracts.
- Lead negotiations for assigned subcontracts.
- Understand the Owner's contract and incorporate appropriate scope‑specific flowdowns into Subcontract agreements under oversight.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with prequalification requirements.
- Assist with the resolution of claims.
- Monitor project subcontract activities and report status.
- Collaborate to resolve major complex subcontract issues.
- Facilitate management of strategic subcontractor relationships.
- Perform subcontract administration activities as assigned, including running subcontractor meetings, drafting/reviewing/filing formal correspondence, executing the Change Management process, reviewing and processing invoices, resolving/back charging/claim/liquidated damages, and closing out assigned subcontracts.
Acts in capacity of a "lead person." Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.
Minimum QualificationsRequires a BA or BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Business, Technical or related field. Relevant field or office experience may substitute for a degree. Strong knowledge of construction disciplines, construction execution, means & methods, and construction equipment. Must successfully complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements including background checks and drug screening.
Preferred QualificationsSix (6) years of relevant experience in Subcontracts, Construction Project Management, or Procurement preferred or proven ability to perform at the capacity identified herein.
Preferred Skills- Strong understanding of subcontract and procurement processes and the capacity to self‑execute the transactional subcontract process in accordance with company policies.
- Ability to resolve complex commercial terms and conditions issues through collaboration.
- Strong knowledge of commercial terms and conditions.
- Understanding of relevant B&V Processes and Procedures.
- General computer skills;
Microsoft Office suite. - Attention to detail.
- Ability to independently resolve complex problems in a timely manner with little guidance from management.

Annual compensation ranges by state or jurisdiction are provided below. Final compensation is determined by skills, experience, qualifications, internal alignment, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.
- State of Minnesota: $104,486 - $156,440.
