Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician – Systems is responsible for assembling build-to-order large electrical cabinets that incorporate a variety of electrical and electronic components, including relays, knife switches, voltage monitors, ethernet switches, power distribution units, surge suppressors, and Orion products used by electric utilities. This role requires a self-starter who can deliver high-quality products in a goal-oriented environment, work independently with a strong sense of responsibility, and continuously pursue learning while maintaining a passion for technology.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, and work orders to determine material requirements and assembly instructions.
  • Assemble large electrical cabinets using power tools, hand tools, and soldering equipment in accordance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Conceptualize the completed end-product to ensure precise measurements and alignment with established quality specifications.
  • Manufacture wires and cables by cutting to specified lengths, tying for neatness, installing identification tags, routing in tubing or wire trays, installing covers and connectors, and terminating correctly.
  • Perform electrical wiring tasks, including wiring harnesses and cable management, to ensure safe, organized, and functional assemblies.
  • Apply soldering techniques to electrical and electronic components as required for cabinet assembly.
  • Use computer skills to reference electrical prints, schematics, and work instructions as needed for production.
  • Support mechanical and electrical assembly tasks related to HVAC and other systems as required.
  • Participate in preparing finished material and equipment for shipping, including building wooden crates, packing materials and equipment, installing tie-downs to secure loads, and placing items on skids.
  • Maintain an organized and safe work area, ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are used and stored properly.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and continuously improve assembly processes.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 6+ months of relevant experience in electrical assembly, wiring, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated electrical aptitude, including wiring, wire stripping, and reading electrical prints.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, wiring schematics, and electrical prints.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools used in electrical and mechanical assembly.
  • Experience with soldering and use of soldering equipment in an assembly environment.
  • Capability to stand for an 8-hour shift and move around the manufacturing area as needed.
  • Ability to lift 40+ pounds on a regular basis.
  • Effective cable tie and cable management skills to ensure neat and organized wiring.
  • Basic computer skills to access and follow electronic documentation and instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in electrical assembly of cabinets or control panels.
  • Experience in electronics or electrical systems, including electrical wiring and electrical assembly work.
  • Familiarity with HVAC electrical and mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Ability to work with wiring harnesses, wiring schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for working with assemblies and components.
  • Attention to detail and ability to measure and cut materials precisely to specification.
  • Comfort working with surge suppressors, power distribution units, ethernet switches, and related components.
  • Willingness to continuously learn new technologies and assembly techniques.

Work Environment
