Overview
A 340-bed acute care facility in Overland Park, KS is seeking a Nurse Manager of Emergency Department. The hospital is Johnson County's only Level II Trauma Center and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and holds accreditation as a Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Its emergency services footprint includes four emergency departments — among them a dedicated Pediatric ED and two freestanding ERs — collectively treating more than 45,000 patients annually.
Therole
Reporting to the Director of Emergency Services and the Chief Nursing Officer, the Nurse Manager of ED provides nursing leadership across the emergency department. The manager oversees daily operations and staffing to ensure consistent, high-quality patient-centered care throughout the unit. A core focus of this role is monitoring and evaluating nursing practice against established policies and procedures, holding staff accountable for clinical outcomes aligned with departmental and facility objectives.
Whatwe re looking for
- Minimum 3 years of recent acute care leadership experience in an emergency department setting; charge nurse ED experience will be considered, though manager-level experience in a high-acuity facility is strongly preferred
- Graduate of a professional school of nursing; BSN preferred, or actively pursuing with completion required within 2 years of hire date
- Current registered nurse licensure in the state of practice, or an active compact RN license, in accordance with applicable law and regulation
- ACLS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale, and ENPC or PALS — all must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
