Job Summary
Infusion nurses administer various therapies such as intravenous antibiotics, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood products. The Infusion Nurse promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach toward patients, families, and all members of the care delivery team.
About this unit:
- We take care of complex oncology and infusion patients in a supportive environment that fosters teamwork.
- Patient population is often recurring, allowing us to build relationships with them and their families.
- Clinic open Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.;
Part‑time position (2 10‑hour shifts per week: Wednesday & Thursday). - Ability to cross‑train in Medical Oncology, GYN Oncology, and Infusion.
- The role of the Registered Nurse is to perform patient care under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager.
- The Registered Nurse provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient, and in support of the mission of Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
- The Registered Nurse in this department provides care for adult patients between 18 to 64 years and geriatric patients 65 years and older.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with either an ADN or BSN degree.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. BLS is required upon hire. Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Card from Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) preferred within first 6 months of hire; required within first year of hire. Certified Oncology Nurse (OCN) from Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) preferred.
- Prior experience in a similarly sized facility with similar services provided is preferred. Previous emergency, pre‑hospital or critical care preferred. Previous oncology experience is strongly preferred.
