Description

American Traveler is hiring a Float Pool RN for PCU/Telemetry, requiring both KS and MO or compact RN licensure and 2 years of recent specialty experience.

Details
  • PCU float pool position with no assigned home unit
  • Floats among roughly 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed
  • Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
  • Weekend requirement of 8 shifts per 6-week schedule, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed per unit
  • No on-call requirements
  • Special equipment/systems:
    Virtual Nurses, 12 lead EKG, Air Vo, Voalte, Omnicell
Requirements
  • Active RN license - both Kansas and Missouri, or compact license, required in hand
  • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of RN experience required, with 2 years of recent specialty experience preferred
  • Must have a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Required skills:

    cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, on-unit telemetry monitoring, and pre/post cardiac cath care
  • Preferred skills: sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access/management, blood product administration, and central line care
  • Must be willing and able to float between departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • 2 professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
  • SSN required at time of consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide telemetry and PCU-level nursing care across multiple med/surg intermediate units
  • Support cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and post-procedural cardiac care
  • Work as part of a float pool team supporting multiple campuses
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days, finalized prior to consideration with no additional requests after offer
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Travel experience not required
  • Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
  • Returning employees must observe an 18-month tenure gap with a 3-month break in service; former permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • No travel partners accepted
