Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool position requiring telemetry expertise and both Kansas and Missouri or compact RN licensure.

Details
  • Float pool position covering approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU units without a designated home unit
  • May float to other metro campus facilities as needed
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Weekend requirement of 8 shifts within a 6-week schedule, combination of Fri/Sat/Sun
  • Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
  • No on-call requirements
  • No block scheduling accommodation available
  • Utilizes Virtual Nurses, 12-lead EKG, Air Vo, Voalte, and Omnicell systems
Requirements
  • Active Kansas and Missouri RN license or compact license in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gaps exceeding 90 days
  • Charge RN experience preferred
  • Experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown settings required
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and on-unit telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization care required
  • Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care
  • Two professional references required from the past year, one from a supervisor or above and the second from a charge RN
  • Must provide SSN and finalized RTO/scheduling requests at time of consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive care for patients with conditions including sepsis, wound care, ETOH withdrawal, suicidal ideation, renal failure, AFIB, GI bleed, stroke, and COVID
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates within this radius are not accepted
  • No travel partners accepted for this position
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days; additional RTO requires approval and must be finalized prior to consideration, with no changes permitted after submission
  • Returning staff must observe an 18-month tenure policy with a 3-month break in service; former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • EPIC training required, with option to complete either the EPIC test-out or training module
  • Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed prior to start date
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Facility may extend an offer without an interview, though interview accommodations can be requested
