Job Summary

By joining our BV Construction group, you will develop and enhance your skills in an on‑site, hands‑on environment. We are committed to providing our construction professionals with expert training, career development, and advancement. Our group includes safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, startup and decommissioning, and field engineering. You will actively promote and continuously evaluate the effective implementation of Black & Veatch QC policies and standards to support projects.

You will manage site QC staff of assigned projects and act as the quality interface on project teams with engineering, project management, corporate offices and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish, implement, and maintain the site quality program.
  • Coordinate with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, regulatory representatives and field to ensure that work is done correctly.
  • Ensure on‑site work meets applicable codes and specifications.
  • Develop and administer site‑specific quality programs; conduct surveillance and audits of site contractor quality control programs.
  • Handle all aspects of welder qualification, on‑site testing.
  • Issue, control and coordinate Post‑Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) and Non‑Destructive Examination (NDE) contacts.
  • Develop and track inspection plans and actions identified.
  • Approve site testing such as soil testing, concrete placement and grout breaks, hydro tests, and NDE testing, and verify documentation.
  • Review and control documentation for the certification of construction equipment and testing equipment.
  • Review turnover packages prior to handoff to startup.
  • Assist in coordination of punch‑list walkdowns and inspections; establish and manage the punch‑list.
  • Collate QC documentation for final handover to the owner.
  • Interface with clients and government officials.
  • Develop and implement quality programs that assist projects and division to meet company and division quality goals and expectations.
  • Act as a quality consultant for internal and external clients.
  • Act as a temporary project fill‑in for lower‑level quality professionals.
  • Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports.
  • Serve as mentor to other quality professionals.
  • Implement safety, quality, ethical standards, lessons learned, and adhere to performance management programs in accordance with division policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Supervise the work of others.
  • Handle hiring, discipline, and pay administration of subordinates including other site QC managers, inspectors, and representatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or geographic equivalent.
  • Four‑year degree in Engineering, Quality, Business or related discipline desired.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of construction technology.
  • Knowledge of the EPC industry.
  • Constructability knowledge.
  • Reading of erection drawings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years as Superintendent with degree or 10+ years without.
  • Must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search).
Certifications

Certification in discipline such as American Welding Society (AWS), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Institute for Supply Management (ISM) or relevant geographic equivalent certification is desired.
