The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs within a manufacturing environment. This role partners with site leadership, employees, contractors, and vendors to identify hazards, reduce risk, maintain regulatory compliance, and promote a proactive safety culture.

The EHS Specialist provides hands‑on support for safety initiatives, including risk assessments, incident investigations, employee training, audits, and continuous improvement efforts across commissioning and production operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and maintenance of EHS programs, policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Support emergency response programs, safety drills, and site safety initiatives.
  • Deliver EHS training and provide guidance to employees, contractors, and vendors.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to improve safety performance and operational excellence.
  • Provide onsite EHS support during commissioning, startup, and ongoing manufacturing operations.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in an EHS or safety role.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety best practices.
  • Experience with safety training, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred
  • CSP, CIH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, or related certifications.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, commissioning, or startup environments.
  • Experience with high‑hazard operations, chemical handling, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001/45001, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, or EHS management systems.

This role requires regular onsite presence and may involve the use of PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing, respirators, and other required safety equipment.
