Seeking a motivated and detail-oriented research professional to support faculty research on terrorism, extremism, and global security issues. This temporary position is intended for individuals who have completed a Master’s degree in a relevant field and have prior academic research experience. The successful candidate will assist in monitoring news outlets, academic publications, and policy reports; compiling and analyzing findings; and contributing substantively to ongoing research projects.
Examplesof Duties
- Track and review current news articles, policy reports, and academic publications related to terrorism, extremist organizations, and counter terrorism efforts.
- Summarize, analyze, and synthesize findings into clear, well‑organized research briefs and reports.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive database of relevant news items, incidents, and scholarly sources.
- Provide background research, literature reviews, and fact‑checking support for faculty projects, presentations, and publications.
- Assist with drafting research materials, annotated bibliographies, and supporting documentation as needed.
- Adhere to ethical research guidelines and handle sensitive content with professionalism and discretion.
Education:
- Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Security Studies, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field is required.
Experience:
- Demonstrated research experience at the graduate level or in a professional research setting.
- Strong analytical, writing, and synthesis skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines with careful attention to detail.
- Experience reviewing sensitive or challenging content in a professional and academic context.
- Familiarity with academic databases, research tools, citation management software, and major media outlets.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Clear and professional communication skills (written and verbal).
- Highly organized, dependable, and proactive.
