Overview

The Department Specialists maintain proper in-stock levels of merchandise and develop product knowledge to enhance customer service. They assist in keeping the store clean and orderly and support overall store presentation.

• Provide positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware and proactively assist customers.
• Greet customers and assist with questions; thank customers at checkout or departure.
• Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor and work well with customers and associates.
• Answer pages and calls promptly and courteously; escalate unresolved issues to management.
• Demonstrate good product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and product locations.
• Maintain in-stock levels in assigned department(s) and assist with cycle counts and price changes.
• Ensure accurate receiving, stocking, and back stock maintenance; support clean and orderly sales floor, stock room, and outdoor areas.
• Assist with merchandise resets, end caps, and ad signage; ensure signage is current.
• Assist with store upkeep and safety; operate forklift with proper training where applicable.
• Communicate store issues to the General Manager and participate in store meetings.
• Provide merchandising, cost control, or sales ideas to the General Manager; maintain professional appearance and behavior.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Floor sales and/or replenishment experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs, and climb as needed.
• Ability to pass Stihl bronze/silver certification.
• Ability to service and sell necessary parts and provide basic engine diagnostics/repair knowledge.
• Willingness to travel to other locations within the Kansas City Metro area.
