Role Description The Assistant Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at the Dry Goods USA store in Overland Park, KS. This role supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, visual merchandising, inventory coordination, and maintaining store standards. The Assistant Manager leads and coaches sales associates, models exemplary customer service, and helps resolve customer concerns in a professional manner.
Day-to-day responsibilities include scheduling and supervising staff, monitoring sales performance, assisting with training and onboarding, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The role also collaborates on promotional activities, contributes to a positive team culture, and helps drive sales and profitability while maintaining a welcoming shopping environment.
Qualifications
- Experience in retail or customer-facing environments, with strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Supervisory or leadership experience, including coaching, team support, and delegation of tasks.
- Basic knowledge of retail operations such as cash handling, inventory processes, and merchandising.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, team members, and management.
- Organizational and time-management abilities to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Comfort using point-of-sale systems and other basic computer applications for reporting and communication.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, move merchandise, and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience as a key holder, shift lead, or assistant manager is preferred.
