Commercial Roofer
The Roofing Technician performs tear-offs, installs shingles and membrane systems, completes repairs, and identifies and resolves leaks while ensuring all work meets high quality and safety standards. This role works closely with foremen to keep production moving efficiently and to maintain a clean, organized jobsite. The position primarily supports commercial roofing projects with some residential work and requires frequent travel between sites within the KC metro area.
Responsibilities- Perform roofing tear-offs safely and efficiently on commercial and residential projects.
- Install shingles and membrane roofing systems according to specifications and industry best practices.
- Diagnose, locate, and repair roof leaks, ensuring durable and high-quality repairs.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete roofing tasks.
- Work closely with foremen and project managers to keep production on schedule and address site needs promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite at all times, including proper handling and storage of tools and materials.
- Travel from site to site within the KC metro area to complete service calls and scheduled work.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including OSHA standards and company policies.
- Communicate clearly with team members to coordinate work and report progress or issues.
- Adapt to changing priorities and jobsite conditions while maintaining a high level of workmanship.
- Hands-on experience with roofing tear-offs, shingle installation, and membrane roofing systems.
- Experience in commercial construction or commercial roofing service work.
- Ability to diagnose and repair roof leaks on a variety of roofing systems.
- Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a safe and controlled manner.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills for repair and service work.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
- Capability to travel site-to-site within the KC metro area as part of daily responsibilities.
- Valid driver's license (DL).
- OSHA 10 certification is a strong asset.
- Flexibility to handle a mix of service calls and scheduled projects in a fast-paced environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in commercial roofing service work, with exposure to both commercial (approximately 90%) and residential (approximately 10%) projects.
- Previous experience working closely with foremen, superintendents, and project managers on construction sites.
- Ability to provide personal hand tools for daily use is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a tight-knit team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Comfort working at heights and on various roof types and pitches.
- Reliable transportation to travel between job sites within the KC metro area.

WorkEnvironment
This role is based in the KC metro area and involves working outdoors year-round on commercial and residential roofing projects. The workday typically follows an 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. shift, with most work focused on commercial roofing and a smaller portion on residential jobs. You will use a variety of hand tools and power tools and collaborate regularly with a small, dedicated team that includes two full-time technicians, one superintendent, and three project managers.
The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and teamwork, with frequent travel between local job sites and no requirement for extended travel outside the metro area.
