Staff Engineer, Software Engineer

O2E Brands (1-800-GOT-JUNK?) is looking for a Staff Engineer to lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance software platforms. As a key technical leader you will manage a small team of engineers, define the architectural vision, ensure best practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and excellence in our software products.

• Architectural Design:
  Develop and maintain a scalable, robust, and flexible software architecture that aligns with business and technical requirements.
• Technical Leadership:
  Provide guidance on software development best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns.
• Hands-on:
  You're a hands-on developer who gets stuck in, you enjoy solving complex problems and building impactful solutions.
• Technology Strategy:
  Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for adoption to enhance system performance and maintainability.
• Collaboration:
  
  Work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Code Review & Quality Assurance:
  Oversee code quality, perform technical reviews, and ensure adherence to architectural principles.
• Scalability & Performance Optimization:
  Design systems that can handle high availability, large-scale processing, and future growth.
• Security & Compliance:
  Ensure software solutions meet security, compliance, and regulatory standards.
• Drive innovation:
  Evaluate and implement new technologies, methodologies, and AI capabilities that improve team efficiency, software performance, and development processes.
• Manage & Mentor:
  Manage a small team; coach and mentor software engineers to build technical expertise within the team.

• Experience:
  
  10+ years of experience in software development and architecture.
• Expertise in software design principles, microservices architecture, and cloud-native development.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Typescript).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS).
• Knowledge of databases (SQL, No
  
  SQL) and data modelling.
• Familiarity with Dev Ops, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of security best practices in software development.
• Soft Skills:
  
  Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and strategic mindset.
• Previous experience leading or managing developers.
• Education:
  
  Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
