The Learning & Network Manager cultivates meaningful connections and active learning among PhilMO Members and partners. This position assures PhilMO programs and services (including Funder Networks ) are well-coordinated and align with broader association strategies. PhilMO approaches Member learning collaboratively, with most team members contributing to ideation and supporting components of execution. Our Network & Learning Manager leads the way – assuring implementation, coordinating team contributions, and evaluation.

Title: Learning & Network Manager
Reports To: CEO
Supervises: No direct reports to start. If interest and capacity to supervise are demonstrated, it is likely possible within a year.
Where: Metro St. Louis preferred, and all Missouri candidates will be considered.
Hours: 25 hours/week with opportunity to grow to full-time in 12-18 months
Be Advised: PhilMO is growing to better serve its statewide footprint. This role is prioritized for growth through additional hours and/or hiring additional staff (the path to build capacity will be shaped by the Learning & Network Manager).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities for
Learning & Network Manager:
Program & Services Management – 45% of time
Manage (with support from the PhilMO team; see Overview above) ideation, development, implementation, and evaluation of 30-50 virtual and in-person programs for PhilMO Members and partners annually, including one in-person statewide conference. This team member will:
- Coordinate annual program calendar and, with CEO and Operations support, draft a proposed annual budget for programs and assure compliance to the final Board-approved budget.
- Ensure programs are responsive to the evolving philanthropic and statewide landscape.
- Draft and edit program descriptions and fliers; oversee dissemination of invitations with Operations team support.
- Produce agendas, facilitation guides, slides, and other materials for programs.
- Directly communicate and/or manage team communication with guest speakers, facilitators, hosts, and participants.
- Coordinate day-of activities, including setup and break down, and post-event activities, including evaluations, acknowledgments, and website updates.
Network Management – 25% of time
Oversee the cultivation of PhilMO Member Networks , which regularly convene Missouri grantmakers by type of organization, funding interest area, geography served, and personal identity. Additional PhilMO staff, including the CEO and Vice President, provide support in strategic planning for Networks. The Learning & Network Manager will:
- Design and deliver high-quality programs and services for Networks (included in Program & Services Management (detailed below).
- Manage the Network annual calendar and ensure participants are kept informed of Network activities through timely communication.
- With the PhilMO team, identify and support volunteer Network Member-Advisors in providing peer leadership to Networks (typically two advisors per Network serve for one or more years).
Partnerships & Collaborative Communications - 20% of time
- Draft and publish a regular Member e-newsletter ( What Gives? ).
- Work with Operations team to ensure program-related data and information is kept up to date across online platforms.
- Participate actively on the PhilMO team, including engaging in regular staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with PhilMO CEO.
- Set agenda for and co-facilitate quarterly Programs & Services Board Committee meetings.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with other PSOs and sector stakeholders.
- Attend community meetings and provide staff support for collaborative projects.
Sector Learning, Research, & Reports –10% of time
- Respond to Member inquiries and requests. Track the team’s collective work to respond to Members’ requests for customized research.
- Maintain familiarity with the landscapes of philanthropy, development, and nonprofit sector.
- Ensure a high level of accountability through translation of work-related activities into progress reports for staff and Board of Directors.
