Job Summary

The Autism Works Program Instructor delivers high-quality Autism Works services to students served by A New Leaf, Inc. (A.N.L.) across elementary, middle, and high schools in the Tulsa metro area and surrounding communities. Working in partnership with the Autism Works Program Coordinator II, this role facilitates group instruction for students with autism or related barriers, with a focus on developing pre-vocational skills such as communication, social skills, and self-regulation.

The instructor plays a key role in program implementation, monitoring student progress, coordinating services, and collaborating with school teams, families, and community partners. Programming may occur during and after school hours, with occasional evenings or weekends as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervises practicum students, interns, and/or peer mentors participating in the Autism Works program
  • Provides supervision and guidance to participating students in classroom settings and during off-site activities
Key Duties And Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Autism Works Program Coordinator II to implement A.N.L.’s Autism Works program and ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery
  • Prepare and implement lesson plans, classroom materials, and activities aligned with the program’s selected curriculum
  • Facilitate group instruction that meets the educational, social, and behavioral needs of students, including occasional weekend programming
  • Ensure the health, safety, and overall well-being of students while fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor, document, and evaluate student progress; complete observations and share outcomes with student teams
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for school meetings, team meetings, parent conferences, and required monthly or quarterly reports
  • Complete all required administrative documentation, including time studies, attendance records, reports, payroll timesheets, and participant records
  • Support students’ self-esteem, confidence, and independence by treating all individuals with dignity and respect
  • Serve as a positive representative and role model of A.N.L. and the Autism Works program; build strong relationships with school personnel, parents, students, and community partners
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the program and organizational mission
Requirements Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance sufficient to operate company vehicles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to complete accurate and timely documentation
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings or weekends as needed for program activities (e.g., community enrichment events, parent resource nights, or trainings)
  • Demonstrated interest in and positive attitude toward working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to model and uphold A.N.L.’s Core Values:

  • Willingness to obtain Employment Specialist/Program Coordinator certification within six (6) months of hire
  • Job competencies are Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Behavior Support and ABA principles, Individualized Service Planning, Program Policies and Compliance, Communication, Coaching & Mentoring, Collaboration, Data Collection & Reporting, Training and Facilitation, Problem Solving
Education And Experience
  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Strong interest in supporting individuals with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer
  • Ability to stand, move, and engage in interactive and outdoor activities for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 30 pounds
